Managing Your Christmas Recipes

from: Karlie Bestler

When November rolls around, Christmas is not very far away. If you do a lot of cooking and baking for the Christmas holidays, it is definitely the time to organize your Christmas recipes and decide which ones you will use. Planning for the recipes you want to use for Christmas will help your holiday run smoother with a lot less stress. When it comes to Christmas recipe organization, here are a few things to keep in mind.

Start With The Unfamiliar

You probably have a few Christmas recipes that you make every year. You may even have some Christmas recipes that have been passed down through the family. Those recipes probably don't require much of your attention other than writing out the list of ingredients that you will need for them because they are familiar with them.

If you are planning to try new Christmas recipes, start early so you can test the recipes. Don't want until Christmas to try out your new Christmas recipes. You won't know for sure if a recipe will work until you try it. If you wait til the last minute to try out new recipes, you might be disappointed if your Christmas recipes don't turn out as planned.

Variety Is the Spice of Life

Include a variety of Christmas recipes for beverages, main courses, side dishes and desserts. Christmas recipes for beverages are usually fairly easy and might not require a trial run in advance. Whether or not you need to test your Christmas recipes in advance depends a lot on your comfort level in the kitchen.

Shop Early For Ingredients

Keep all your Christmas recipes in one area where you can retrieve them easily. Write out your shopping list so you can avoid having to make multiple trips to the grocery store for necessary ingredients. Making a shopping list early for all the ingredients you will need for your Christmas recipes is important in case you can't find every item at your usual grocery store. You will have the time to go to specialty stores for unusual or hard-to-find ingredients.

You can enjoy this Christmas season more with a little advance planning. Organize and plan your Christmas recipes, and you will be able to enjoy more of the holiday with great company and good food.
