Christmas Costumes For Children

from: Kyle Besser

Children of all ages love to dress up at Christmas time. They love it even more than adults who are also inclined to dress up. At this time of year there is a high demand for children Christmas costumes. There is also a demand for costumes for adults.

In stores all over America a man is employed to dress up and play Santa Claus to entertain the children by listening to their gift wish list. There often will be other smaller people dressed as elves.

Children like to wear all kinds of children Christmas costumes. Two particular Christmas costumes children favorites are dressing as an angel or as Santa Claus. Children especially like wearing wigs and beards. If children are in a school concert or play and have to dress as a character, just watch their enthusiasm as they try on different wigs and beards.

Schools and churches aren't always good at providing children's Christian Christmas pageant costumes. When a child is asked to play a part and Christian Christmas costumes are needed, there may be nothing in the Christian Christmas pageant costumes box that is suitable or that fits. This is when mothers and grandmothers are called on to provide Christian Christmas pageant costumes.

Most children Christmas costumes could be purchased if you aren't handy or don't have the time to make one. Most children Christmas costumes could probably be made cheaper, and the children can have some fun too helping to make their own children Christmas costumes.

If a wig or beard is needed, cotton wool should do the trick. Glue some of the white wool strands round the edges of a hat or attach rubber bands to fit round the ears and you have a rough and ready wig or beard.

Most Santa Claus suits consist of a jacket, trousers and a hat. One way to make a costume is to find an old jacket and trousers that the child no longer wears, dye them red, add fur trim round the collar and cuffs and add a belt for the jacket and you're almost done. Santa hats are really cheap to buy and easy to find nowadays.

Many of us can remember a Christmas when either we or another family member had a part in the school or church nativity play. Sometimes the whole family would get involved in producing the children Christmas costumes. They would have great fun trying to produce a blue and white outfit for Mary from an old sheet. It was to make a moustache and beard for Joseph or one of the shepherds. If there was to be a donkey, the school would often have the means of making that costume. One child would be the front legs and another the back end. It was alway a laugh when the naughtiest child in the class was chosen to play the role of the angel.
