Adult Christmas Costumes
from: Kyle BesserMany people enjoy dressing up during the holiday season. From the smallest child to the oldest adult, there is something attractive about dressing up and wearing a special costume. There are as many different costume ideas as there are festive occasions in the year. From Halloween to Thanksgiving, from Easter to Christmas, there are traditions associated with these holidays and people like to dress up for them.
At Christmas time, for example, it is traditional for men all over the world to dress up as Father Christmas or Santa Claus. This aspect of Christmas celebrations means that there is a huge demand for adult Christmas costumes to meet that demand. Adult Christmas costumes are not just meant for surprising the family or for dads playing Santa Claus on Christmas Eve. Adult Christmas costumes are a big business.
Every year the larger stores in America, England and other countries in the world are in the market for lots of Christmas costumes adults will fancy. Stores are big buyers of adult Christmas costumes because almost all the larger department stores employ somebody to act as Santa in their stores at Christmas time. In some cases, a number of people will dress in adult Christmas costumes to entertain and delight customers as they shop.
Most children love Santa Claus and whole families will make a special trip to the store just so the youngest members can visit Santa to give him their wish list for Christmas. The families are happy with the family Christmas activity, and the stores are happy because these families will often look around the store and may decide to purchase some Christmas presents.
The bigger department stores have their Christmas celebrations down to a fine art nowadays. Besides Santa Claus in his red suit, many stores will also have Santa's helpers and Santa's elves. This means that the store has a need for more adult Christmas costumes.
Elves are often dressed in green suits. They wear pointy hats and boots, sometimes with bells on them. The elves are there to help Santa. They may direct the children and their families to Santa and ask the children their names before their turn to go and sit with Santa.
In recent years there has been more interest in Santa's wife. Mrs Claus may also have her own set of helpers. Mrs Claus would have a costume similar to her husband's costume except Mrs. Claus would wear a skirt instead of the trousers that Santa wears. Mrs Claus is in charge of the elves and she directs operations in the background.
Adult Christmas costumes come in different styles and sizes and are used for different purposes. At Christmas time, however, the ones that are most in demand for adults are those that are related to Santa Claus and his friends and family.
